Biography

Dr. Diane P. Karalekas founded Eye Physicians of Marlborough and Worcester in 1999, after serving as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology on the Glaucoma Service at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She is currently on staff at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Marlborough and Worcester.

Dr. Karalekas received her undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed her ophthalmology residency and two-year clinical/research Glaucoma Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine where she received the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award. She has authored several papers, scientific abstracts and a book chapter related to glaucoma.

After more than 30 years of specializing in laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts, Dr. Karalekas now focuses on medical and laser treatment of adult eye diseases including glaucoma, cataract, diabetes, macular degeneration and dry eye syndrome.

Dr. Karalekas is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, New England Ophthalmological Society and the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
